Short Description

Our 12-days organized tour in Germany starts from Johannesburg via Hamburg Airport to Schwerin. You will explore the beautiful landscapes of the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Province, with additional visits of fantastic cities like Hamburg, Stralsund, and Berlin.

The itinerary includes city tours, visits to special tourist attractions, cultural events and offers also enough leisure time for individual activities and shopping. The tour dates span from late June, the German summer to early autumn in October.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Schwerin – Arrival

Welcome to Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg Vorpommern in Northern Germany. Our city is well known for its famous Castle, a neo-Renaissance palace with ornate rooms and elaborate gardens. The Schwerin National Museum has paintings dated back from the 17th-century, including those of the Dutch and Flemish as well as works by Peter Paul Rubens. Schwerin was recently declared a World Heritage Centre. During our Welcome Dinner you will be introduced to our activities about your booked tour with us. (D)

Transfer
By train from Hamburg International Airport to your hotel in Schwerin

Day 2 | Schwerin

The day begins with a city tour after a typical German breakfast.

In the afternoon, a walk to the famous Schwerin castle, is part of your program, including an excursion to the National Museum.. (B)

Day 3 | Hamburg

On this day we will visit Hamburg: a major port city in Northern Germany, which is connected to the North Sea by the huge Elbe River. After a bus city tour and a typical fish lunch near the harbour, welcome to Germany’s largest and oldest Panoptikum Waxworks with over 120 figures. Something to write home about and a must-see in Germany. (B)

Transfer
Train to Hamburg and back to Schwerin

Day 4 | Mecklenburg Vorpommern

Welcome to the Biohof Medewege. The former estate area is in the immediate vicinity of Schwerin on Lake Medeweger. Here we will find a versatile community of people, companies, projects and initiatives: organic agriculture, craft, art, culture and educational projects.

In the afternoon we discover our city of Schwerin from a completely new perspective: with a balloon ride from above! (B)

Day 5 | Baltic Sea

With its flat and steep banks, beach lakes, bays and dunes, the narrow headland between the sea and Bodden is one of the most beautiful and most varied landscapes in Mecklenburg. A crown jewel of nature that is strictly protected by the Vorpommern Bodden landscape National Park, which we will together explore this day. (B)

Transfer
Bus trip from Schwerin to Darss and back.

Day 6 | Hamburg

After breakfast, excursion to Hamburg will start with a fantastic and interesting harbour tour. In the afternoon it is time to visit the fabulous miniature wonderland. And we promise you: Miniature Wonderland is indeed a wonder! It is a model built by builders and technicians to give you a miniature experience of different worlds that have already been built. (B)

Transfer
Train from Schwerin to Hamburg and back.

Day 7 | Free Day

As your free day, there is much time for individual activities whilst you seat back, perhaps for a quick analysis of the first half of our tour through Northern Germany. Maybe you would like to go to the Zippendorf- Beach or visit the Schwerin Zoo: but anyway, we will advise you how you can spend a lovely day by familiarising yourself with all the beauties around this place. (B)

Day 8 | Stralsund

A trip to Stralsund to the Ozeaneum is part of our program today. This modern museum is located directly at the harbour and with its extraordinary architecture a real attraction for tourists. Five permanent exhibitions are shown on over 8,700 sqm. You will visit the aquarium. Discover the unique underwater journey through the Baltic Sea in Europe`s Museum, dated back from 2010. At this place, you will learn interesting facts about various marine themes with an audio guide. (B)

Transfer
Bus or train to Stralsund and back.

Day 9 | Berlin

In the morning, we leave Schwerin by train to visit Germany`s capital, Berlin. After checking in at our hotel and a small snack, we set off on an urban boat tour. Here we get to know the fascinating history of Berlin and see all the important sights conveniently on a river cruise from the water. (B)

Transfer
Train to Berlin.

Day 10 | Berlin & Potsdam

Today we will discover many sights in Berlin in an open double-decker bus that will usher us around the German capital to famous tourist attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz, East Side Gallery, or the Reichstag. In the afternoon we visit the Sanssouci Park and Palace and the Chinese House in the nearby Potsdam. (B)

Day 11 | Berlin

This day is completely at your disposal. It can be used for additional sightseeing, for example, to visit some gigantic museums in the city. Also, extensive shopping in one of the malls can be part of your program, before we all meet in the evening for a Farewell- Dinner. (B & D)

Day 12 | Departure

We leave Berlin by train to Hamburg Airport where your scheduled plane to Johannesburg is waiting. Our team hopes that you liked the days with us. And perhaps, with all your new memories in mind, you will recommend our Travel Agency to friends and acquaintances, so that they can also come to participate in our unique trip in Northern Germany.
