Short Description

The journey takes you from Maun, the bustling town on the edge of the Okavango Delta, to Victoria Falls. Stations include the villages of Xai Xai and Nxamasere, the spirited Tsodilo Hills, Shinde in the Delta and Kasane on the Chobe River and ends in Maun.

You will get impressions of people's daily lives, get to know many cultures and experience infinite nature up close. A professional photographer is permanently at your side. The journey creates countless opportunities for spectacular pictures in a wide variety of genres. Changing lighting conditions, gathering moods, capturing fast movements are just some of the challenges.

NOTE: Tour 2 is almost identical to Tour 1 except the end. You fly back to Maun and get the chance to do an optional helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta.

NB. This is an extraordinary Luxury Photo Tour with two Fly- in Safaris. In addition, you will experience the highest quality during yoy stay in our carefully selected lodges.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival at Maun

You arrive in Maun, the gate to the Okavango Delta and administrative center of the province of Ngaminland, located on the picturesque Thamalakane River. Since the town’s establishment in 1915 as the tribal capital of the Batawana people, it has become more and more the headquarter of countless safari and air-charter operations. Depending on your arrival, we propose to take a walk along the wide banks of the timeless Thamalakane River, where red lechwe can still be seen grazing next to local donkeys, goats an cattle. Perhaps, the small Maun Game Reserve, which covers just 8 qkm of woodland, can also be of interest for you. Welcome Dinner (D)

Day 2 – 4 | Xai Xai Village (San village) - Cultural Photography

The tiny Xai Xai Village in northwestern Botswana is home to some of the last remaining aborigines of Southern Africa, the San. As part of a national community-based tourism strategy, they can make a profit out of the land and tourism which it generated. You get a deep insight on how the San have lived in the Kalahari as hunter and gatherers for thousands of years. You are also invited to share their famous trance dance with them, combined with healing abilities of the traditional doctors. (B, L, D) Transfer Road transfer from Maun to Nokaneng in a bus (160 km). From there, vehicle exchange into 4 x 4 to Xai Xai Village and the Aha Hills (150 km).

Day 6 | Tsodilo Hills Rock - Art Photography

The Tsodilo Hills with a cluster of about 4,500 rock paintings (San Rock Art) are the biggest rock art collection in Southern Africa and UNESCO World Heritage. Sacred to the San people, the Hills continue to revere them for spiritual and cultural significance. During your stay you walk with a local guide around the four Hills with plenty of time for rock art photography. (B, L, D) Transfer Road trip from Nxamaseri Lodge to Tsodilo Hills and back (40 km each way).

Day 7 – 9 | Okavango Delta - Wildlife Photography

The Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world, surrounded by the dried-up Kalahari, forms a huge, green oasis, fed by the flow of the mighty Okavango River. Explore the countless waterways and canals on foot and or by boat (mokoro) searching with your camera for suitable photo motifs in the natural terrain of huge elephant herds or hippo families, including an arsenal of several hundred species of birds as well. Night drives are available. (B, L, D).
